Botulinum Toxin A Therapy
Botulinum toxin A is a highly effective bacterial toxin. A highly diluted solution is used in cosmetic therapy for anti-aging applications, as well as for treatments against excessive perspiration. The effect of botulinum toxin is to block the signal transmission from the nerve cells to the sweat glands. The substance is injected under the skin, causing a temporary cessation of sweat secretion.
After about six months, the effect decreases and a new treatment is required.
Almost no side effects are observed from this kind of therapy, since the botulinum toxin is extremely diluted. Before the treatment, an anesthetic cream or a tiny injection will be applied locally, and therefore almost no pain is felt. This method is mainly used for excessive perspiration in the face, hands and feet.
